Hi, I’m Alvin Soon. I’m an award-winning writer and photographer who’s published stories from all over the world.
I’ve written stories from Apple headquarters to the streets of Phnom Penh. I’ve reported from international events, photographed travel stories, and crafted advertising copy. In 2015, I won the Media Publishers Association Singapore’s Online Photography of the Year award for my travel story, ‘In Search of Old Japan.’
How do you become a better person?
How do you become wiser, stronger, more effective? That’s the question that has driven me my entire life, and that’s the question that drives this site.
To answer that question, I’ve read books on psychology, philosophy and Buddhism. I’ve practiced martial arts, yoga, and meditated in a Thai forest monastery. And I write about the most effective tactics that I’ve discovered.
Writing for more than 10 years
I’ve been writing online for more than 10 years. The earliest posts on this site were first published on Life Coaches Blog1, which I founded and ran for three years from 2005 to 2008.
I’m also a deputy editor and photography contributor with Singapore’s leading magazine company, SPH Magazines. I co-wrote the book HWM MegaGuide: Digital Photography 3.0 in 2012, and my most popular work on HardwareZone has received over half a million unique visits.
