Hi, I’m Alvin Soon. I’m an award-winning writer and photographer who’s published stories from all over the world.
I’ve written stories from Apple headquarters to the streets of Phnom Penh. I’ve reported from international events, photographed travel stories, and crafted advertising copy. In 2015, I won the Media Publishers Association Singapore’s Online Photography of the Year award for my story, ‘In Search of Old Japan.’
It’s About Getting Better
I’ve always been curious about how people actually become wiser, stronger, and better human beings.
To answer that question, I’ve read books on psychology, philosophy, and Buddhism. I’ve practiced martial arts, yoga, and meditated in a Thai forest monastery. And I write on this website about what I’ve discovered.
Writing for More Than 10 Years
I’ve been writing online for more than 10 years. The earliest posts on this site were first published on Life Coaches Blog1, which I founded and ran for three years from 2005 to 2008.
I was a deputy editor and photography contributor with Singapore’s leading magazine company, SPH Magazines. I co-wrote the book HWM MegaGuide: Digital Photography 3.0 in 2012, and my most popular work on HardwareZone has received over half a million unique visits.
